Concert of the National Jazz Orchestra and Vasil Hadzimanov in Ohrid
On August 11, starting at 10 p.m., he will hold a concert on the stage of Dolni Saraj, Ohrid
The National Jazz Orchestra, a guest at the concert which will be conducted by
maestro Gian Emin, will be the prominent Serbian pianist of Macedonian origin,
composer and bandleader known for his innovative approach to jazz fusion and
world music – Vasil Hadzimanov.

Born on june 23, 1973 in Belgrade, Serbia (then Yugoslavia), Hadjimanov
comes from a family of musicians; his father is the famous singer, composer and
actor, Zafir Hadjimanov, and mother, the famous singer and actress, Senka Veletanlic.



Vasil has shown exceptional musical talent since he was young and started his own
formal education in classical piano, but soon delved into jazz and fusion
music, drawing inspiration from various musical traditions, including
Balkan, African and Indian music.


During the 90s, Vasil Hadzimanov was particularly present and recognized on the Serbian stage
music stage with his band, performing a unique blend of jazz improvisation with
elements of Balkan folk rhythms and melodies. His music is characterized
with complex rhythms, rich harmonies and a deep integration of different musical cultures.


During his career, Hadjimanov has collaborated with numerous international
musicians and has released several critically acclaimed albums,
including "Vasil Hajimanov Band" (2001), "7/8 & 11" (2008) and "Alive" (2016). His
compositions often reflect his experiences and perceptions of the cultural
diversity in the Balkans and beyond. In 2023, he released the album "Keyf" whose
promotion took place recently in the country and it was really well received by
the audience.

Vasil Hadjimanov continues to be a leading figure in contemporary jazz and fusion
music scene, recognized as much for his virtuoso piano playing as for his
the ability to bridge cultural divides through music.


At the concert in Dolni Saraj, some of the most famous compositions of
Hadzhimanov, adapted for performance with a big band, as well as more recent compositions
promoted album "Keyf." The arrangements of the compositions are by Vladimir Nikolov,
Tony Kitanovski and Hadjimanov himself.
